The long time popular Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts of North Tahoe are in for some big changes coming soon, thanks to Andy Wirth the current CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holding which is the parent Company of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski Resorts.

The hard choice to decide which mountain to ski will be ending soon. Currently you would have to drive from one parking lot to the other to access the lifts in each, buying separate tickets for each. Soon there will be a gondola connecting the two parks into one. Read more: Andy Wirth – About.me
This is a very welcome changed that has been wished for for a long time by area skiers, but not as a surprise since there has been rumors circling about if for quite a while. He has also been a major contributor to the environmental and community services organization in the Lake Tahoe area. And he is making some great changes to the two ski resorts as well as many expansion plans in the works.
According to an article in Powder Magazine ( http://www.powder.com/stories/news/squaw-valley-alpine-meadows-announce-base-to-base-gondola/#8giAuGgiB7R8u65j.97 ) the gondola that will connect Alpine Meadows ski area to Squaw Valley ski area will have three parts.
This is a major and important step in combining the two resort seamlessly into one mega resort that the long time area skiers have been dreaming about.
