Dick And Betsy DeVos Passionate About Helping Others

Dick and Betsy DeVos are among the richest philanthropists in the U.S. The family’s combined fortune is worth several billions. Dick DeVos learned at a young age about the value of helping others. His father, Richard DeVos Sr., is the co-founder of Amway Products. He taught Dick the value of hard work and paying it forward.

The DeVoses, also Republican heavyweights and staunch supporters of charter schools, have a foundation devoted to charitable causes. The Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation has given away billions of dollars to help a number of conservative initiatives in the state of Michigan and beyond. While there was some scrutiny surrounding the couple’s vast fortune, recently appointed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, had no issues with revealing what her foundation does.

In 2015, the couple donated nearly $12 million for educational causes alone. Dick DeVos says not only Michigan but the entire U.S. is in the midst of an educational crisis that affects children from all backgrounds. DeVos is very concerned about children from impoverished backgrounds and their access to a good and fair education.

While the lion’s share of the family contributions go towards education, the family also contributes to the arts and gentrification causes in Michigan. Betsy DeVos says she has no problem with opening the books regarding her foundation’s appropriation of funds. “The parents and kids in this city know that we have their best interests at heart,” said DeVos. The couple insist they take pride in writing checks for individuals needing a hand up.

Both DeVos and Prince come from wealthy backgrounds. But they haven’t let their lifestyle of privilege blind them from helping others. The DeVoses say they will continue to foster leadership development and doing the right thing for children in Michigan. DeVos has a charter school named after him that helps children with dreams of becoming a pilot.

Dick DeVos – A Living Inspiration to Everyone who Wants to Contribute to the Betterment of the Society

Recently, I got fascinated with West Michigan’s philanthropic patterns. Unlike other places where the wealthy status is established by the ostentatious display of wealth through clothes, jewelry or cars; the West Michigan social clout is defined by how much a family has given away. And leading the way, there is the DeVos family represented by Dick DeVos and his wife, Betsy DeVos.

I knew about the couple majorly as donors to Republican candidates. However what took me by surprise is their much larger donations to all other philanthropic activities. Their large contribution of $5.3 million to Republican candidates of the presidential elections paled in comparison to their $11.6 million charitable contributions in 2015 alone. What humbled me more was that fact that Dick admitted to his philanthropic streak being deeply embedded in him by his dad, Richard DeVos who is not only the co-founder of Amway Corporation but also a highly reputed and respected philanthropist. He had three other sons besides Dick; all are known to donate more than generously. It is only recently that the couple has started throwing light on their lifetime contribution legacy.

Dick joined his father’s business in 1974, and he quickly climbed to the position of vice president by 1984. By this time he was handling the Amway’s brand operation in eighteen countries. In 1989, he founded his own company, The Windquest Group which manufactured as well as marketed storage and closet organizers. He went through several experiments and change to finally again concentrate entirely on Windquest Group in 2002.

However, I think, more than his illustrious career, Dick and his wife Betsy will be known and remembered for their philanthropic activities. Recently, the couple humbly accepted of donating over 139 million dollars to various causes and institutions during their lifetime. Their entire family legacy of donation today crosses the one billion dollar mark which amounts to one-fourth of their total fortune. Dick personally is more inclined to donate in the education sector more than the others. His total donation in this sector stands at three-hundred-and-fifty-seven thousand dollars. His passion became evident to me when he stated in an interview that their present education system failed in fulfilling the American dream.

Another passion of his philanthropic streak is seen in his efforts to increase both knowledge and awareness about arts. Is it any wonder that this family ranks 24th in the Forbes list of “America’s Top Givers.”

The Evolution of Eric Pulier

Evolution comes from change and if we as a people never experience change, we’ll certainly get left behind. Eric Pulier has gone through many changes throughout his life and with this change he’s able to adapt in a variety of fields. The world is bein run off advanced technology, but years from now this very technology might be obsolete. Eric Pulier is the very definition of this notion since he has a strong passion for the use of technology which translates into making society a much better place to live.

This guy has done some amazing things (via) technology. One of his first professional companies specialized in using technology to handle the demands of the ever changing healthcare and education fields. People Doing Things was that company, but Pulier continued with his journey and created a private social media platform for chronically ill children. Starbright World has a hit as it allowed these special kids to communicate with one another to share there perspectives. This not only was great for sharing stories, but it helped the kids connect much better by raising their moral. Pulier just has a way of getting things done effectively and fast. Being a technologist himself, he’s raised capital for tech start-up companies and many of those very companies have gone on to become a huge success. This love of technology was always present even when he was a child back in Teaneck, New Jersey. Pulier programmed his first computer while in the fourth grade and he started his own computer database company while in high school.

When it comes to founding, Pulier it down packed. He’s actually founded up to 15 businesses such as XPRIZE, Service Mesh Inc, Akana Software, FLY, Digital Evolution, and many more. Pulier even put together a showcase that displayed live interaction between the NASA and the Space Shuttle Astronauts. This was unheard of at the time, but Pulier’s brilliant mind used some of the most advanced technology to achieve this. As of today this loving father of four resides in the Southern California Area and who knows what this highly intelligent individual will come up with next.

Is George Soros Being Targeted?

George Soros is a Hungarian-American born on August 12, 1930. Most people refer to him as “The Man Who Broke the Bank of England” after he walked away with $1 billion profits from short selling pounds worth $10 billion. This happened during the 1992 Black Wednesday UK currency crisis. In 1944 at the age of 13, George escaped the Nazi invasion of his home country Hungary thanks to an employee of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. The next year, George Soros experienced and survived the battle of Budapest. In 1947, George Soros emigrated to England and was enrolled at the London School of Economics. While he was still a student, George worked as a waiter and also as a railway porter. In 1951, George earned his Bachelor of Science degree in philosophy. Three years later he received his Master of Science degree in the same area of study in the same institution. Source:

In 1954, he got the opportunity to work with Singer and Friedlander as a clerk. That marked the beginning of his financial career. His co-worker, Robert Mayer, son of New York City broker F.M. Mayer convinced him to apply to work with F.M Mayer. In 1956 George Soros was called to F.M. Mayer and for three straight years, he worked as an arbitrage trader with a specialty in European stocks. In 1963, he moved to Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder where he served as the company’s vice-president for ten years. In 1970, George quit his job and founded Soros Fund Management and became the organization’s chairperson. By 1973, the company had grown to the value of $12 million. By 1981, the company was valued at $400 million, making it one of the leading hedge fund businesses in the country. It is said that since the company’s inception in 1973, it has generated more than $40 billion. Since his success had made him one of the richest men in the world, George decided to use his resources to impact the society. George Soros founded the Open Society Foundation in the late 1980’s. His motivation was to see individual rights being protected and respected, the government being held accountable and that no single individual or a group of persons held a monotony of the truth. Since its establishment, the organization has helped many university students including needy black South African students pay their tuition fees. It has also contributed in bring about transparency as well as sanity in the natural resource extraction industry.

However, not so long ago, the Open Society Foundation became the target of an infiltration attempt that went wrong. Conservative activist James O’Keefe was behind it all but messed it up by failing to hang up the phone. It is said that James O’Keefe called Open Society Foundation and identified himself as Victor Kesh, a Hungarian-American who wanted to be involved in the organization’s efforts to uphold European Values. His efforts were, however, futile after he forgot to hang up the phone. In the ten minutes he forgot to hang up the phone, James O’Keefe is heard spilling out the beans on what he intends to do with the organization. He is heard saying that they need to make more of such calls. The company’s president Chris Stone mocked James O’Keefe and his accomplices saying, “These guys can’t even figure out how to use an Internet browser, let alone conduct an undercover operation. You read the transcript and you can’t help but laugh. But the issues here aren’t funny. There’s some kind of dirty-tricks operation in play against us.”
